The Election Commission of Pakistan has informed in the report submitted to theSupreme Court that finances have not been gotten for races in Punjab territory. On Tuesday, the Election Commission presented a report to the Supreme Court expressing that the cash was not moved by the State Bank.
Last week, the Supreme Court had given a request to the State Bank to deliver 21 billion rupees to the Political decision Commission by Monday for directing races in Punjab.Officials of the Ministry of Finance and the State Bank have also submitted a report to the office of the Registrar Supreme Court. State Bank in its report has given the reasons for not transferring the money.
The Parliament has not approved it while the State Bank has said that they can allocate the required amount but cannot release it without the permission of the Government or the Parliament.
On Monday, the Federal Cabinet, after reviewing a summary of the Ministry of Finance in this regard, sent it to the National Assembly, which rejected the summary and did not approve the release of funds to the Election Commission.
Earlier, the Standing Committee on Finance of the National Assembly had sent the matter of release of funds of 21 billion rupees to the federal cabinet for approval. The meeting of the committee was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh. Member Burgess Tahir told the meeting that the committee had unanimously rejected the money bill on April 13 after two hours of deliberation.
"Our position was that the first elections in Punjab will affect the elections in the rest of the provinces, this position has not changed." On this occasion, Prime Minister Nazir Tarar had said that money cannot be released from the Federal Consolidated Fund without the approval of the members of the assembly. The money bill was rejected by the National Assembly and Senate Standing Committee. The Supreme Court has now directed the State Bank to generate this amount from the Federal Consolidated Fund.
The Law Minister had said that on the direction of the Supreme Court, an amount of 21 billion rupees will now be passed on to other expenses. This amount should be released from the Federal Consolidated Fund and given to the Election Commission. The chairman of the committee said that the State Bank should also be asked what they have replied. Acting Governor State Bank Seema Kamran said that "we have received the order of the Supreme Court, we appeared, we told that we can allocate money but the Ministry of Finance will give permission to transfer."
The Law Minister said that the Supreme Court has said that ex post facto permission should be taken.
The Attorney General told the committee that under the Constitution, the approval of the use of money from the Federal Consolidated Fund can be given by the Prime Minister, otherwise the use of money can be approved by making it an expense. After submitting the report of the State Bank to the Supreme Court on Tuesday, the Supreme Court will order the next action in this regard.
Imran Khan's request for exemption from attendance in eight cases approved
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan's request for immunity from attendance in eight cases has been approved in the Islamabad High Court. On Tuesday, Islamabad High Court has extended Imran Khan's interim bail till May 3.The application related to eight cases against Imran Khan was heard by Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Hasan Aurangzeb.

Request to stop operation rejected The Lahore High Court has rejected the request of Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan for early hearing against registration of similar cases and disciplinary action. On the other hand, in the hearing held on Tuesday, the Lahore High Court has rejected Imran Khan's request to stop the possible police operation on Eid and has also stopped Imran Khan from harassing him. A five-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqer Najafi heard the application. Imran Khan's lawyer said that we have received information that an operation may take place during the Eid holidays.
