Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq elected Prime Minister of Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's 'renegade' Member of Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Anwar Haq has been elected as the 15th Prime Minister of Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir with 48 votes in the 53-member House with the support of the opposition parties People's Party and Muslim League-N.
The voting schedule for the new Leader of the House was given in the session of the Legislative Assembly that started after 12:30 on Wednesday and Thursday night, but none of the candidates submitted their papers against him in the stipulated time. As a result, 48 votes will be cast in the house of 53 in favor of Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq. Five members of the Assembly did not participate in the voting. Thus, Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq was elected as the 15th Prime Minister of Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir with an overwhelming majority. The voting results were announced at 2:00 am. In his first speech after becoming the prime minister, Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq said that "I contested the election of the prime minister as an independent and I had the support of the PDM."

Five members were absent during the voting, including the names of Sardar Atiq Ahmed of Muslim Conference, Sardar Hasan Ibrahim of Jammu Kashmir People's Party, Ali Shan Soni and Shahida Sagheer. Sardar Hasan Ibrahim had already announced his detachment from the process while Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has lost his assembly membership after being disqualified by the court on April 11.
After the election of Chaudhry Anwarul Haq as the Prime Minister, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has expressed his indifference to this election as the President of Tehreek-e-Insaf Jammu and Kashmir by issuing a circular. It should be noted that out of 53 seats in the Legislative Assembly of Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir, 31 are held by Tehreek-e-Insaf, 12 by People's Party and seven seats by Muslim League-N. Muslim Conference and Jammu Kashmir People's Party have one seat each.

He won on the ticket of Tehreek-e-Insaf from LA-7 (Ten) constituency of Bhimbar in the general elections of 25 July 2021. Anwar-ul-Haq resigned as Speaker before the voting schedule for the election of the new Leader of the House was released on Wednesday and was subsequently named as Prime Minister. Anwar-ul-Haq belongs to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, but on Thursday, after a long consultation, matters were settled with the opposition parties of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and the Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Along with this, after a continuous manipulation for a week in the state capital, Muzaffarabad, the stage for the election of the Leader of the House has finally been decided. In the Forward Block of PTI's defected MLAs, Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, Azhar Sadiq, Majid Khan, Akbar Ibrahim, Rafiq Nair, Chaudhry Riaz, Kausar Taqdees Geelani, Pir Mazhar Saeed, Javed Butt, Malik Zafar Iqbal, Ansrabdali and Sardar Muhammad Hussain. were included.
